Dualy is a Chrome extension that displays a translated subtitle line alongside the original on Netflix.
It only activates on netflix.com/watch/* pages and is entirely inactive on all other sites.
This page explains what happens to data when you use it.
What the extension does with data
- Subtitle text from Netflix is sent to the translation service you select (Google Translate or DeepL) to perform the translation. This is the core function of the extension.
- Your settings (target language, font sizes, etc.) are stored in
chrome.storage.syncand synced across your Chrome profile by Google. - Your translation cache is stored in
chrome.storage.localon your device only. - If you use DeepL, your API key is stored in
chrome.storage.localon your device only and is sent solely to DeepL's API.
What the developer does not collect
- No data is routed through or stored on any server controlled by the developer.
- No analytics, no crash reporting, no usage tracking.
- No personal information of any kind is collected.
